The OECD has published its annual Global Jobless Rate Report.
It looks at the global jobless rates and finds that Tasmania has the world’s worst joblessness rate.
In terms of the number of jobless people in the country, Tasmania is ranked fourth with around 3.3 million people.
This is followed by the US (2.3m), Belgium (1.7m) and Germany (1m).
The report finds that unemployment in Australia is the highest in the developed world.
According to the OECD, the unemployment rate in Australia stood at 8.1 per cent in the June quarter of 2019, compared to 6.1 in the US, 7.2 in Belgium and 7.3 in Germany.
The report states that Tasmania is one of just three countries where the unemployment rates are higher than the national average.
