Business Insider UK – US company Adp has taken a £20 million stake in a UK-based ecommerce company and is launching a range of products and services across the UK.
Adp, which has raised a total of £220 million (US$295 million) through its investment in online marketplace Shopify, is investing in a range for home decor, furniture, food, home furnishings and household goods, according to a statement from the company.
The deal will see Adp focus on its US online platform Shopify and the UK’s Home Depot, as well as expanding into a range to cater for customers looking for home improvement, furniture and more.
Home Depot, which also sells online furniture, was previously owned by Amazon, which is owned by eBay.
In the UK, Adp will also focus on expanding its online retail business, which includes a range in the US and other countries, with an aim to make it a viable competitor to Amazon, the statement said.
