HULU has stopped offering a mail-box service in some of its markets, as it struggles to find enough subscribers to make a dent in its losses.
The company said it will now only accept pre-paid customers to use its services.
The move comes after several cities in the United States and Canada began offering mail-boxes, and some local communities have also taken to installing them in some residential areas.
Hulu is one of the biggest cable providers in the country and its main product, HULR, is the streaming video service that it launched in 2008.
It’s seen as one of several cable companies that have taken a hard line against cable companies in recent years.HULU CEO Rob Marcus says the company doesn’t have the resources to keep up with demand for the service.
“Hulu has a very tight budget and we’re not a household name.
We’re not doing a lot of growth,” Marcus said.”
We’re not making a lot more than we’re taking in.
And we have to make money.”
In some cases, the company has been forced to offer discounted packages.
In New York, customers are now able to use HULO to get their streaming video on a cable box.
Marcus said the company is working with its customers to ensure that it doesn’t hurt the company’s financial health.
